The 2021 Kia Stinger | Coming Soon | Phil Gilbert Kia

Some have called it Kia’s worst-kept secret (because it’s not much of a secret at all), but we’re excited to finally announce the upcoming arrival of the 2021 Kia Stinger. The veritable beast of a rear-wheel drive sedan that has caught the attention of car lovers Australia-wide.

Hitting our shores before the end of 2020 (finally something good about 2020) the 2021 Kia Stinger is set to push another wave through the Australian market for performance fastbacks. We’re excited to be the retailer putting Australians in touch with this new entrant in the Kia Stinger story. Read on here to get an early look at what the 2021 model has to offer.

Enviable performance

The Australian model 2021 Kia Stinger houses the same powertrain as previous models as a base. A 2.0 litre single-turbo Theta II four-cylinder engine that packs a real punch. A feature set that saw the 2019 and 2020 Kia Stinger models take off here in Australia amid Holdens step away from rear-wheel driven V8s.

An eight-speed automatic gearbox is there to handle well calibrated shifts, opening up the straight-line performance of the 2021 Kia Stinger. But the inclusion of paddle shifters at the wheel give manual enthusiasts the option to take all that into their own hands.

The good and bad news for Australian buyers is that the new bi-modal sports exhaust system is replacing the Australian-developed exhaust system of the 2020 model and earlier. But don’t let that get you down, because the new system puts another 2kW on the table when switched to Sport Mode – bringing the total up to an impressive 274kW.

Striking aesthetics with a modern interior

One of the biggest talking points surrounding the release of the 2021 Stinger is the facelift the fastback styled beast has got since last year. Updates include a full width rear light bar, reworked head and tail lights, and a new rear diffuser to go with the option of larger quad exhausts.

New 18 and 19-inch alloy wheels anchor a striking look, and the inclusion of a broader range of interior and exterior colour choices will leave buyers spoilt for choice. And speaking of interiors – the 2021 Kia Stinger continues the tradition of high quality interiors that host the mod-cons, bit without ever feeling overbearing.

An eight-inch infotainment centre, complete with a touch-screen and tactile physical buttons rounds out the IT end of things. Serving as the central point for the Kia Stinger’s impressive Apple and Android connectivity.

Next level safety features

With pace and performance comes the need for strong safety features, and the 2021 Kia Stinger does not disappoint. Advanced blind-spot monitoring and autonomous emergency braking offer a huge step forward for those considering the leap into a new model after some years in a mid to early decade release.

Steering-assist and an adaptive cruise control system help keep the ride smooth through corners, without the need for adjustments. A quirky but wonderful feature made possible with integrated map data. A safe-exit system rounds out the trip, with a warning to notify you of oncoming traffic as you exit the 2021 Kia Stinger.
